Mich hatte die Szene mit der segelnden Spitfire und dem Abschuss der ME am Ende ein bisschen irritiert. Das wirkte übertrieben, auch wenn der Zeibezug nicht ganz deutlich wird. Er segelt auf die Küste zu, dreht ab, wendet, schießt die ME ab, und landet dann weit weg am Strand.
Scheint aber tatsächlich möglich. Via reddit - fand ich ganz interessant:
Spitfire has a glide ratio of (figuratively) around 13 - 15:1. For the lay, that means for every 13 metres it travels forward in glide, it loses 1 metre of altitude. And that's without thermals of hot air over a beach. Just base spec's.
Let's call it 2,000 ft of altitude left - 609 metres.
609 metres x 13 (let's go lowest assumption) = 7,917 metres of distance forward, with only 609 metres of altitude left.
7.917 kilometres in miles = 4.92 miles before landing. Let's be generous and say 5 miles.
5 miles gliding over the beach.
1 mile to the beach, 2 miles across, 2 miles back as he brings it down. It's not impossible.
It's not probable but very much so possible. It's Nolan. The detail freak. Almost everything he portrays is founded in some degree of reality.
