Officials say it was believed that people were crushed to death after a large crowd began pushing forward in a narrow alley near Hamilton Hotel, a major party spot in Seoul.

This the alley off the main street in Itaewon, Seoul, where the stampede apparently started. An emergency medical facility has been set up nearby. Partying continues on the side streets, as the sky begins to get light.
