the true story was a DEA agent had become a drug mule. His plane encountered trouble so he started tossing cocaine out. He then attempted to parachute to safety, but he hit his head on the tail of the plane and was knocked temporarily unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he pulled his chute but it was too late for a full deployment, so he died on impact. Later on, a bear ate some coke and immediately OD'ed.
