Update: The Tolkien estate made demands that the series can not change anything that is written in the series about the age in wich it takes place, Aside from this, the show have all the creative freedom it wants

Peter Jackson, director of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" movie trilogies, originally confirmed he would not be involved with the TV series. However in 2018 he suggested he might be offering advice on the scripts.

In a rare move for the company's entertainment side with Amazon Studios, Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos was one of the principals directly involved in negotiations for making the deal happen between Warner Bros, the Tolkien estate and Amazon. Bezos had previously mandated to the company TV division that they needed to produce a fantasy series on the scale of "Game of Thrones".

HBO was one of the networks approached by the Tolkien estate to pickup the project. HBO is part of WarnerMedia alongside Warner Bros, who has New Line Cinema as one of their film divisions and is a producing partner on this series. New Line Cinema's participation allows the series to potentially use material from the film series.
-Ok, also New Line Cinema produziert mit. HBO wurde angefragt aber hat evtl abgelehnt wenn es nun zu diesem Netflix Amazon Bieterwettstreit kam?? Oder verstehe ich da was falsch?
-Und die Special Effects kommen von Industrial Light and Magic, welche ja mehr als ein ordentliches Resumé haben :)
