Die Discworld, bzw. Ankh-Morpork, wurde im Verlauf der Romane immer moderner. Nach hinten raus wurde Papiergeld eingeführt (#36, "Making Money") und die Industrialisierung nimmt ihren Lauf. Einer der letzten Romane heißt dann auch entsprechend "Raising Steam".
