But it ultimately does little to detract from the core experience and its many successes. Need for Speed Shift gets the most important part of a racing game right and it does so with a flair that’s uncommon in a frequently po-faced genre, providing driving that’s genuinely thrilling. In one stroke it revitalises the flagging Need for Speed brand, and suggests that – with just a little more refinement – the series could establish itself as a true contender to Gran Turismo and Forza.

Da ich ja niht so der Racing-Nerd bin kauf ich nur eines der 3 Racer (Dirt 2, Shift, Forza 3). Es wird wohl Forza 3. Wäre Forza nicht aktuell hätte ich mir Shift gekauft. Besonders gefällt mir wie im IGN-Test erwähnt der Rauch und der Dreck wenn vor mir einer scharf bremst oder es kracht (Convincing smoke and dirt are just two of the game's visual triumphs). Das fehlt mir bei Forza etwas. Kommt imo dadaurch etwas steriler rüber.
Insgesamt haben sie sich aber wohl wirklich einen Gefallen damit getan NFS von Grund auf rundzuerneuern und ein gescheites Entwicklerteam zu engagieren.
